There have been several shows on TV recently which have catered for our enthusiasm in this rather strange phenomenon. One of the things that most viewers remember is when the hypnotist says "Sleep" and snaps his fingers the subjects drop their heads forward and look completely switched off. When my dog is sitting and I say "sleep" (snapping my fingers at the same time) he lets his head fall forward until his nose is about four inches from the ground. It looks as though he has obeyed the masterful tones! Obviously it's quite easy to teach and like most "tricks" the fun is in the presentation and context. I taught the trick using a target stick (Own design obviously :-) Remember I'm East Coast Scottish!). My dog is familiar with touching my target stick with his nose so it was simply a case of progressively leading his nose down into the low postion, rewarding for speed and positioning as the training progressed Regards David
