One of the strongest effects of punishment is fear, and as real worriers can testify, conditioned fear is sometimes worse than the real article on the spot. -- Marian Bailey > >>Message Sent by: "Robert Loftus" > > Hi All, > > This has been a very interesting thread which I have tried > to keep up with as my 'inbox' filled up with e-mail, I would > like to add my $0.02 worth, but first thanks to Marian and > Deb for their recent excellent posts on this topic. > The basis of the discussion so far has been mainly on the > dog not coming when the command or cue "come" is given, > this then assumes that the "behaviour of coming" is being > disobeyed by the dog, so out come the CP's and +P's. > > The use of CP's and +P's, unlike the "leave it" exercise, would > also introduce and/or increase a state 'fear' which most certainly > in my situation in the park this afternoon would have ended with > a visit to the vet. > > Have fun,(+R) > > Robert Loftus > rloftus@tpgi.com.au > Sydney > Australia >
